t’s happy ride time again and this is a good one! If you love big climbs, ripping descents, and a remote feel, then this ride will be right up your alley.
We will plan to meet at the Shadow Bay Day Use area at 9am and hit the trail by 9:30 or so. The route consists of a trip up “the twins” with some sustained climbing, rewarded by fast, fun downhill descending the backside. Eventually passing by the beautiful Charlton Lake and down into a zone affected by the 2022 wildfires. Rolling terrain on the East Waldo trail returns to the Shadow Bay parking area.
The ride is around 20 miles and approx 2500 feet of climbing.
Several ride options exist depending on how much adventure you’re looking for with the possibility of an out and back on the front side of the twins or of the East Waldo trail if you’re looking for a shorter ride.
The window to ride these trails is very small, but they are more than worth experiencing. We hope to see you there!
