November Board Meeting
Nov. 18, 2024, 6:30 p.m.
1. Public Forum: Frasier McDonald: Potentially adding a new jump line to Thurston Hills – a blue/black jump line. Looking at a larger master plan and a trail database/portfolio. Also looking to make an adaptive/kids mtb trail at the bottom of TH. Jack Hill: Crawfish is up in the air for now. Frasier and I are coming up with a site plan for Thurston Hills and walking the property tomorrow. Tom Lyons is submitting a grant to get the Diamond View Pump Track revitalized in Oakridge. Something for beginners and kids to practice on. Laurie Sweet, Peter O'Tool, Shawn Litson present. Adam Steffan: OMBC is doing a summit retreat. Good networking opportunity. CODA is hosting.
2. Position reports:
A. Chair (Sean): We got an email that this UO meeting space is no longer available for the DOD Board meeting. Good turnout on Baby Steps S. Eugene project. Looking to come up with new ideas for ACM entertainment – committee . Jan 19th is ACM. Intention to keep trail work coordinator position open until December.
B. Vice Chair (Austin Larson): Umpqua Forest has some options for re-opening some trails in the backcountry, such as Canton Falls area.
C. Treasurer (Chantal): Major expenses are internet. Made $325 in membership/donations. Total balance over $19k. Working on permit for ACM – two wood fires.
D. Secretary (Jeff Green): Holiday Lights Ride Weds Dec. 18th. Budget: $200.
E. Trail Work (Peter O'Toole): I've been giving out free parking passes for Alsea as a reward for volunteer work. Lollipop is open, good turnout. Y2K got more berm work.
F. PR/Marketing (Ben Hansen): Shared DOD website before getting Colin (developer) on line. Proposed putting Board under “About” and adding FAQs. Forming a subcommittee for website.
G. Rides/Events (vacant): Dec. 16, Jan 13, Feb 10, March 10 are next board meeting dates. Night ride at WP on Friday. Try to get more going when rain stops. Barbie Camp was medium attendence. Paul is going to cook two turkeys for Turkey ride – 6pm. Board voted unanimously Brian Peais as new Rides/Events coordinator.
