    Hey everybody,

I have a couple of friends in town this weekend and they are very interested in riding MRT. Anyone been on the trail yet this spring? I talked to the ranger station a couple weeks ago and they said it was good up to Carmen. I stopped at Sahallie Falls last weekend and it looked rideable from there with maybe a few snow patches. After another week I was thinking of starting there or where the trail crosses the road right below Clear Lake.

Good idea? Terrible idea? Alternative suggestions? This is the only chance either of these folks will have to ride MRT in the forseeable future.

    Thanks for your help!

Somebody has to have been on it since April 8th, but there were only a few blowdowns from Trail Bridge to the Ranger station.  No idea if it has been cleared otherwise.

I haven't ridden MRT since February when we could get to the reservoir. But I did ride King Castle (which is up near McKenzie Bridge) about 10 days ago and it was clear of snow all the way to the top—which I believe is around 3,800 feet. So I would say go for it. You can check the snow levels as you drive up and make your decision on where to start then. Have fun!

This thread is about the McKenzie River Trail. You might want to start a new one about the Middle Fork…

    Sorry, clicked the wrong thread!

FWIW, I rode the MRT about 2 weeks ago.  Some snow — easily walked over — but the trail was in great shape.

Rode the MRT on Saturday (June 2nd) and the trail was perfect!  No snow, few small puddles, 1 downed tree in 26 miles = A great ride!
