Here we go again! I hope you rested well last week, there is plenty of work to be done!

We have been watching the weather and road conditions and Highway 58 is open again! Everything that has been happening to the highway is happing to area trails!

Calling all USFS certifiied sawyers! and even more swamper and rakers! This weekend, we’ll tackle and finish a few trails. Focusing on clearing the upper Dead Mountain which melted out with the recent rain. It is not as bad in the higher elevation. Just a little more to do on North Salmon Creek, and hopefully knock out Larison Rock! We had a guest star start from the top, but the bottom is hammered! We will separate into crews, starting at the GOATS Warehouse for a safety talk and specific assignments. The crews will carpool to the nearby trailheads and focus on clearing trail of debris, fixing root wad holes so we can say they are DONE!

All chain and crosscut sawyers must be USFS certified. Please remember proper PPE (including hard hats, safety glasses and chaps) and make certain your chainsaw is in good working order if you’re bringing one.

PLEASE DRESS APPROPRIATELY for the weather. It’s cold outside – be prepared and dress in layers – include a hat, extra gloves, and extra socks. Wear waterproof, sturdy shoes. Bring a backpack with extra layers and warm work gloves, or glove liners and a water bottle and/or snacks to help you stay warm as you are burning calories. We’ll bring some extra snacks and warm drinks, but it’s important you take care of the basics!

Tools: We will have extra hard hats and tools, but feel free to bring your favorite handsaw, loppers, or rake with you, but we will have plenty to loan out.

There’s always some gold at the end of the rainbow, so if you’re not too cold by the end of the day, come celebrate your hard efforts with us at the GOATS Warehouse in the Industrial Park (across Hwy. 58 from Greenwaters Park).

WHAT: Swamping, de-limbing, raking and bucking
WHEN: Sunday, 9AM-3PM (or until we get too cold to keep going)
WHERE: Meet at GOATS Warehouse: 76248 Industrial Park Way, Oakridge, OR.
