    🙂

    Same spot confirmed!

3 miles south of Sisters along the 220 spur and next to Wychus Creek.

    Also confirmed…"Good news, bad news.

Peterson Ridge is riding well.  But – the bottom of Trail 99 burned.  Don't expect to be able to ride it this fall.

Paul and company, thanks for bird-dogging all this. It is much appreciated!

Most excellent news regarding the camp spot.  How many crisp Benjamins did y'all have to give the Forest Service to get the nod? 🙂

Bummer on Trail 99.  Man, that trail just can't catch a break.

Thanks Josh,  the "company" part of your comment is Tim Kaiser….he has connections!  I just pestered Tim.  If graft and corruption were involved, I had nothing to do with it!  🙂

I won't object about allegations of corruption. It pays to know the right people. That friendly USFS LEO? – yeah, him.

Everybody who attends can send a Benjamin my way 🙂

    Milli Fire Closure Update:

As of October 6, Peterson Ridge Connector and Trail 99 headed toward 3 Creek Lake is open!

The campsite is technically within the new reduced closure area, albeit by just a hair.  Yellow dot marks campsite location.

      I want to come.

But. It is going to rain and be cold Saturday.  And I can't glamp in a damn trailer or van with a mumu just yet like the rest of you old farts.

If I do come I would be in my 3-season tent and bag (with no dog). But I am very tough and I will survive.

And I could bring lots and lots of gluten free deserts. BUT. IF I do do this…will there be certainty I have a tour of Maston. AND also I SO want to do Smith Rocks/ Burma with Love again. LEE. Tell me my dreams are possible.

        Hi Bridget,
I have not exactly joined the ranks of the "mumu wearing" and trailer camping elite, but — I have been known to sleep in my car as it easy and much more warm than being on the ground.  That being shared, I have done Fall BC in a 3 season and a Summer tent (bad F'n call).

A few pieces of friendly advice:
A couple years back I shelled out $60 for a portable heater.   This was money well spent for sure!  I like to take the chill off my rig or tent before I crash.  Be sure to have your wool base layer and dry stuff to sleep in.  A few drams of some tasty single malt is also a good idea 🙂

Also, the town of Sisters is 3 miles away for a warm toilet, shower (bring quarters) and coffee in the morning.  IMO, this makes the Barbie Camping location on par with glamping 🙂

        I hope you make it!

        Best,

Tim visually confirmed our site is ready and waiting for our arrival!

Bring your rain prevention devices.  If we are prepared….we won't need it.

Oakshire and Planktown are throwing down with beverages. WooHoo!  Tap opens Friday night.

        Yes!

        Oakshire Watershed IPA

Planktown Trip Sommer IPA with a citris twist

That is 31 gallons of goodness.  As if you needed yet another excuse for a bonfire/bikeride/potluck/storytelling weekend.
