    Random.

At the risk of putting a huge jinx on……the weather looks spectacular for the weekend!

Salivating like Pavlov's dog thinking about Saturday evening's potluck.

Hope someone has a pickup there on Friday to help gather firewood….

Blazing Saddles offered a 10% discount to Barbiers.

I'm bringing a Barbie virgin.  Ready the branding irons.

I'm provisioning and hooking up the camper trailer now. Looking forward to a fun weekend of riding, enjoying friends, and being outdoors.

I assume trail99 is snowed in. What's the ride plans for Saturday?

That sure was a great weekend of riding, socializing and camping. So glad I finally made it out to experience this thing called "Baribie Camp". I even got to meet the legend! Thanks to everyone for making my first time so special.

    Cheers,

Barbie looks a bit disheveled in that photo, Lee. Just sayin'.

Anyway it was great to have you in camp for your first ever Barbie experience! Thanks for prioritizing this adventure and I know I speak for many when I say please return for many more!

Speaking of thanks, there are people to acknowledge. Thanks to Paul Timm & Lee Wilkinson for hauling beer, tapping kegs, setting up & tearing down the potluck & cutting firewood. They did all the work! Thanks to the in-camp helpers who toted the firewood in their pickup trucks. Thanks to Justin Mitchell who secured & provided swag for the Saturday evening raffle. Thanks to the many BC attendees who provided AMAZING potluck offerings. OMG! So good! Thanks to Oakshire Brewing for refreshing post-ride recovery suds. And finally, thanks to everyone who attended this fun event because it's the vibe that makes Barbie Camp such a terrific time and that's all about the positive, fun people who gather.

If you missed this one, know that the weather was awesome and the trails were in ideal condition. Of course we couldn't access the top of Trail 99 because it's under snow, but that ride is a Fall BC thing anyway. Peterson Ridge Trails offered great riding. Some went to Bend, some to Gray Butte / Smith Rocks. All was good.

As mentioned elsewhere in this forum, the wonderful dispersed campsite along the east bank of Whychus Creek that DOD has enjoyed for many years will be closed to public camping within a matter of days. We hope the Forest Service will allow camping by permit there in the future but if they don't, well, we'll find a new place to set up our Barbie tents. In fact, we may have already done so. A few of us were keeping our eyes open for alternative campsites in the area and if worse comes to worst, we've already got options. Watch this forum in October for the latest update the Fall Barbie venue. Fall BC will happen Oct. 27-29, 2017.

Thanks again everybody, see you next time.

I had so much fun!!!  Has quickly become my must annual tradition.  DOD is like my family, and what is family without the reunions and mountain bikes, am I right?  Enjoyed spending time with old friends and meeting new people, all while on bikes!  SUPER enjoyed Phil's trail system out of Bend, and finally getting to experience/fly down THE Phil's Trail at the end of our ride on Saturday.  Wow!  SUPER FUN!!!!

Davey's recap says it all.  Great weather followed by a great bunch of riders.  And finally Lee makes an appearance. Here's a quick video of our day on Peterson Ridge.  https://youtu.be/XIQMOyqkjT4
