Join the Disciples of Dirt for a weekend of riding, camping, eating, drinking and FUN over on the east side in sunny Sisters, Oregon! Everyone is welcome!
We’ll be based out of our usual spot on beautiful Whychus Creek just three miles south of Sisters. People arrive Thursday night or Friday and do their own thing. Saturday there will be a group ride around the Peterson Ridge network. It’s extremely rare that we are able to access the top of Trail 99 in the spring, but a few folks may opt to ride partway up Trail 99 to the snow line. Sunday is rider’s choice again with some people doing another spin around Peterson Ridge while others head further east towards Bend or Redmond to ride. In the evenings, as always we’ll hang out and socialize around a big ol’ fire. Saturday night is a potluck and expectations for this are high, so bring your A-game and share your culinary delights.
CAMPING: We will be in a large disbursed campsite with no picnic tables or drinking water, although DOD will arrange for a port-a-potty (or two). No reservations are needed, there is lots of room for everyone. Bring your tent, trailer, van, or RV. And bring warm blankets or a sleeping bag since it can get pretty cold at night. Warms showers are available in the Sisters City Park across from the fire department.
DIRECTIONS: In downtown Sisters turn south on Elm Street. Drive approximately 3.25 miles and turn right on a gravel road directly across from US forest road 1608 (you may see a sign). Or click: https://www.google.com/maps?q=44.245892,-121.548926&hl=en-US&gl=us&shorturl=1
A NOTE ON E-BIKES: For those unfamiliar with Central Oregon Trails, E-bikes are not allowed on Trail 99, Peterson Ridge, or any of the trails around Bend. As per USFS regulations: “E-bikes, electric bikes, pedal assist bikes, and all types of motorized vehicle are prohibited on all National Forest single-track.” Notable exceptions being the Madras East Hills Trail System and a few trails around Oakridge where Class-1 E-bikes are allowed.
SATURDAY-ONLY RIDERS: If you are just planning to come for the day to ride with the group, we’ll be rolling out of camp at 10:00 am. Be sure to arrive with enough time to kit up and be ready to pedal.
Looking forward to seeing you all there!
