DOD Board Meeting Minutes
April 12th 2021
Commenced 6:42 pm
- Public Forum: Adam Steffen: OMBC meeting last week. Updating a guidance document for
OMBC to outline on how to outreach at the federal and local level, to avoid stepping on toes on
the smaller clubs. Matt with ATCA didn’t get a grant for the ATCA connector. They don’t have
funding now to build it. They said they are open for people to come out and help cut trail. Noah
(from Westfir Lodge): Looking forward to “FuGrass.”
Eugene Cathart (Cog Wild): Cog Wild appreciates all the work DOD does, and wants to partner
up with DOD on trail work. Eugene is working with NICA on trail work parties in April. We’re
looking for a system to give back on trail work.
- Position reports
A. Chair (Lee): Have a couple weeks to complete REI grant. Will pay DMV fees for DOD trailer.
Got more members for April. We got a donation for $1000.
B. Vice Chair (Ryan Comeau): Working on our membership software. One program, Member
Press, allows you to roll over current members into the system. The other one I’ve been
working on would require members to sign up again rather than rolling over their
membership. Pricing about the same for all of them – around $100-200/year plus processing
fee. Looking at membership level options as well.
C. Treasurer (Justin Price – not present, excused absence)
D. Secretary (Jeff Green): Minutes posted. Cog Wild
E. Trail Work (Peter O’Toole): Trail work at Dead Mountain this Sunday – the first organized
group trail work in the last year. Working on a berm on Fun Girl. We had a discussion this
month about getting Brock his equipment to get more trail work done hopefully in May.
Need more headgear for the brushers since there’s going to be more cutting work this
summer. We got a flag line off Ridgeline – the next step is the City is going to adopt an
agreement. The build may not happen until October or November. We may engage Skye on
this project as a consultant after we get a written adoption agreement.
On Whypass we likely want to continue hiring professional trail builders to rebuild certain
trail sections. Upper Don Sled and Fun Girl are on the list.
OTT build is going to continue this summer. Fuji Mountain trail work days are being
scheduled – connector trail to Bunchgrass.
F. PR/Marketing (Isaac Johnson – excused absence): The Whypass vibe is good, so is Oakridge.
This weekend will be a good precurser to see how trail building will go with Covid. People
are excited to get the season started. Isaac is moving and buying a house, so may be busy
the next few months.
G. Rides/Events (Fiona): Dennis and Phil Randall did sawyer training. Michelle is doing a race
on 31st of July – DOD to sponsor an aid station. I talked with Justin about live board meetings
at Evergreen – he said maybe in August. Thinking of first Happy Ride after Covid in August,
with people bringing their own snacks. Also aiming to restart Barbie Camp in the fall.
