The Struggle is just around the corner.  The Bobbin trip is off due to downed trees....But the main route for the Struggle was logged a few weeks ago.  Good to go!

Day two of the Struggle utilizes the same trails as the Bobbin ride, but no trailer makes crossing logs less problamatic.  Or, we ride another direction!  Upper MiddleFork perhaps?

The only asthetic that will be missing is a campfire.  If anyone has a propane fire pit, bring it!

I will bring a canoe too.

Much more info about this ride is in the 'Upcoming Events' post.  If you haven't summited two 7000' peaks in a day, you need to be there.  Exhilarating!!

the struggle should be  good to go as several dod people rode it last weekend. Talked to erin and randy at T. campsite  friday.  No bugs then at 9:00 am No campfires and faiir  for smoke.  It depends which way the wind is blowing from  brookings and gold beach fire.  As of today and last friday ( I had to ride through ribbioned off portions of roads and trail the middle fork trail is shut down from 2153 crossing to coal creek  ( rd 2133)   It wasn't ribbioned off at the time of friday morning shuttle.  Paddies valley is open to Tim. lake.  Very few trees down about 6-7 now from tip to toll.

Well I just had to get out of the valley...so I rode Summit to Suzanne on Sunday.

Zero logs.  Clear sweet trail all the way.  I did cut out one 3" leaner...but someone else did the rest of the work.

For the weenie bobbers, if you ride in from Summit......clear....I didn't check the Meek Lake trail.

P.S..there are no fish in Summit or any of the Windy Lakes.  I did see one dead one in Summit, must have been the last one.  Smoke probably got'm.

Well shoot. I've made other plans at this point (hitting the Alsea Falls FUNdraiser one day this weekend). If anyone else wants to lead the Bobbin' ride, step on up. In any case my dance card is full.

Meanwhile the Struggle is one of the best adventures a person can do on (and off) a mountain bike. Wish I could make that one but... well, I can't. Y'all have fun!

Man, wish I could make it. It's been said, and they're correct: the Struggle is a great damn ride! Have fun up there.

I never saw a wild thing sorry for itself. A small bird will drop frozen dead from a bough without ever having felt sorry for itself.

I'm starting to count the hours.....

Weather looks delightful.  Cool days and nights.  Rain not expected till after the festivities, although I will be ready for anything. Those that summit on Saturday might want to bring a windbreaker at least.

Bringing BBQ wings for the Saturday potluck.

I haven't heard of anyone going up before Friday morning to secure the big campsite.  Anyone?

Hope to see you there.
